Authority

Authority…
The first time this subject ever became an eye -opener to me is when my children would do everything
BUT
what I had asked them to do….

Frustrated and worn down through repeating myself and fighting through my own attempts to ‘force -fix’ the problems, I would lay down; only for the enemy to take over and do some more beating on me, lol.

I always felt defeated.

Someone had suggested to me that maybe I lacked in the area of authority…..
I had never really thought about it like that.
And what did that really even mean?

I pondered this and felt determined that,
for now on, they were going to listen,
I had- had enough and as a parent, I should be the one in authority…
But something was missing and I wasn’t sure what it was
or why the ‘authority thing’ had to be so hard?

Authority is not something that has to be forced.

The definition for authority is,
The power or right to Give orders,
make decisions
or enforce obedience.

The Bible says that every believer has been given authority over the enemy,
over sickness, disease/infirmity, demons and in storms (in the name of Jesus).

In my path to find the truth, I was only partially successful so I felt that maybe I could just hide from the rest.
There were times like, being afraid to go check my kids bedrooms after I’d sent them to bed because I knew they were in their rooms but not doing when I had asked them to do,
Kind of like what they call, turning a blind eye.
just thankful they were even starting to take me serious.
As long as they were quiet I was willing to compromise.

But authority does not compromise either.

Unsure of who I was, I struggled with fear. Fear of the enemy, until I learned that he is actually fearful of me.

One thing I’m learning is ‘KNOWING YOUR IDENTITY’ is key.
(believing who God says you are)
When you KNOW YOUR RIGHTS,
THE TRUTH
and where you stand,
you have no problem giving orders with a CONFIDENCE.

I can speak with a boldness.

There’s no begging, pleading, compromising, half done, person in authority.

Take a minute to ponder the
judge in a courtroom as they say very little, yet their words are so powerful.
When you’re driving in front of a police officer,
everything about you changes.
They don’t have to beg you to get out your license and registration.
If anything, you have it ready for them by the time they get your window.

Those in authority KNOW THEIR POWER.

When you compare the stories of Adam and Eve,
and Jesus in the wilderness being tested by the devil, he came to them both and tested them both in the SAME ways.
He knew the truth and put a twist in there.
Adam and Eve didn’t know their identity, they didn’t know the truth so when lies were presented to them, they thought to themselves, well maybe this is true
and consequently lost all of their AUTHORITY.
When Jesus answered he knew His identity and he knew the truth, was able to stand the test, winning ALL AUTHORITY BACK from the devil!

But it doesn’t stop there, then Jesus said to us, I have given you all authority on heaven and earth to make things happen, in my name.
He said not only will we do the things that he did, but more.
But like Adam and Eve if we don’t know our identity, the truth and where we stand then we will crumble when the devil comes and seeks to devour us.
Faith is a must.

Then I went through a time where I was consistent at first but then I got tired and would stop.
Keep fighting.
The Bible says if we keep going without getting weary in good- doing, then we will reap a harvest in time.
Long story short, finish the job!
Jesus finished his assignment and his last words on the cross before he died were, it is finished! He fought to the very end.
He lived out the purpose and destiny that God had on his life and is now sitting at the right hand of his father, in heaven!
Beautiful.

In conclusion, Philippians 3:13-14!
Lord continue to open my eyes to see and ears to hear more in this area
