God’s (Life-giving) Voice

God’s voice is so life giving!
This morning I sit and thank Him in gratitude for communicating with me.
As long as I am listening for Him to speak, I will hear him when he does.
My focus is continually on Him.
Some people don’t believe that God still speaks but he does…
or that you need to go visit a prophet to hear God’s voice, which is important, but it’s also important to hear his voice for yourself and through any conversation that you have with Him.
Could you imagine if, in order to speak with your child, you had to call someone else and tell THEM everything that you wanted YOUR child to hear?!?!
That would be crazy!
Conversations go both ways… Talking and listening.
Just as we go to church every Sunday to hear a pastor, it is as equally important to feed yourself during the week as well and not only depend on Sunday mornings (same goes for prophecy).

The Bible clearly says that we hear him.
It takes time to recognize what He sounds like but once you do, it changes your WHOLE WORLD! Almost nothing else matters more.

Last night we had family over for dinner and after they left, I was busy cleaning up. The kids were in bed and I was excited to finish cleaning so that I could have some, ‘me time’.
After all, I had been preparing most of the day with cooking, cleaning and doing everything I could to make my mom’s birthday perfect for her.

It was in that moment that I heard God say, “set everything down and go lay down in Aiden’s bed with him before he falls asleep, he needs you”.

It is not always easy to obey and we tend to come up with tons of excuses as to why it’s not a good time right now,
or why that doesn’t make sense.
(Our flesh doesn’t always EASILY WANT to agree with God)

In that moment you have two choices.

The first choice is obedience.
Obedience is not arguing with God as to why, it is just simply doing it.
It is trusting that God knows best since He knows every detail of every situation.
God blesses obedience and a child that is not rebellious in these moments.

The second option is disobedience.
A form of disobedience that people don’t always clearly recognize, is something just as simple as shrugging off what God just said to you and explaining why it wasn’t Him (doubt).

Personally I would rather stay on the safe side and do it anyways, even if I wasn’t 100% sure it was Him.
If God can take our mess and turn it into a message, then why wouldn’t he be able to do the same in this area as well?
If my daughter was to do something for me out of obedience, to what she thought I was asking her to do, I would reward her whether she was right or wrong, because her heart was right, and God looks and sees our hearts in those moments too.

Many times along the journey of listening for God’s voice and stepping out, believing it was him, I have made my own mistakes…
There are times I thought it was him, and it wasn’t… and believe me it is very discouraging and disappointing when this happens BUT…. no one naturally rejoices when they fall off their bike with scrapes on their knees.
The good news is, wounds heal and after a short bit of time, you’re ready to ride again.

God speaks in many different ways….
He speaks to us through the Bible, through other people, and he gets so creative that he can even speak to us through things that you might even think are silly like, numbers on a clock or a license plate.

Be discerning and be wise! The enemy also speaks to us and the enemy is an angel of light which means Satan can take things that may look like God, but they’re not.
Fear not, the Holy Spirit is your teacher and God places people and warnings in your path as another way of speaking to you.

God never goes against anything that the Bible says so you can test the things you’re hearing in this way….
An example of this would be,
Maybe I felt like I heard God say “go and buy this right now or you’re going to lose out.”
This is a decision I would wait on… the Bible says be anxious for nothing, God supplies all my needs and that he is not limited. I would then also look at my motives and judge those as well.

Maybe I thought I heard God say, ” he’s hurting, just stay calm and don’t act out of offense”.
This is something that I would line up with God’s Word and see truth in.
God is patient, God is kind, God rejoices in unity and the enemy wants me offended and to act rashly.

It is important to ask God all throughout the day,
What is going on and What do you have to say about this?
Then listen…
Help me to see through your eyes God and help me to hear through your ears.

This is why God’s Word is so important, the Bible.
When we know what the Bible says and how to use it through, thoughts and actions, it becomes a ‘bit’ in our mouths and controls everything about us.

When we begin to hear God in such fine- tune, with every single moment throughout our day, we walk in Victory!
Even on the bad days.
We begin an intimacy with Him.
A oneness and partnership.
The waves no longer take over us the way they used to.
The feeling of loneliness begins to fade.
We see from his eyes and we have His perspective! (one of the greatest gifts)
We walk in blessing and favor.
We walk in our identity and our destiny.
We come alive and we bring others to life with us.
