28 May Just When You Feel Like You’re Getting The Short End Of The Stick
Last night I was speaking with an individual on the phone who was sharing with me some details about her recent divorce that she just went through.
She said ‘Nikki, he ended up getting the house and everything we owned!
I really thought the Lord would have done things differently?!’
And in that moment the Holy Spirit reminded me of Abram and Lot.
In Genesis 13:8, Abram acknowledges and communicates with lot that a separation needs to take place.
Verse 10, lot looked up and saw that the whole plain of the Jordan was well watered, like the garden of the Lord, so Lot set out towards the east.
The Bible never says that Abram felt like he got the short end of the stick but I’m sure it crossed his mind somewhere.
(Let’s just be honest)
Verse 14, the Lord said to Abraham AFTER lot had parted from him,
“Lift up your eyes and look everywhere around you, all the land that you see I will Give to you and your offspring forever. For I am giving it to you.”
He had also told Abram beforehand,
“I will make you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, and you will be a blessing to others. I will bless those who bless you and curse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will be blessed through you.”
So sometimes just when it looks like you’ve gotten the short end of the stick or you are at a great loss somewhere just remember, God is for you and his favor and blessing far outweighs the riches of the world, in whatever way that looks like for you.
Abraham did not need to fend for himself or choose greed. He chose to do what was right and God honored him.
So whatever your circumstance looks like, run to God and share with him the fact that,
I don’t understand what you’re doing, but I choose to trust you anyways.
You have good plans for me! Plans to give me a great future and prosper me.
And even if this is the enemy’s doing, you can turn it around for my good.
A new perspective brings hope!
Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
(Romans 15:13)
