Obedience (Pt 2)

It is just mind-blowing with the Lord has been showing me through revelation on the topic of obedience…
I began to ask God to show me more and he began taking me through the Scriptures, showing me how even every story in the Bible has something to do with obedience (or disobedience).

Adam and Eve (disobedience)
Jesus (obedience)
Abraham with Isaac (willingness obedient)
Abraham with Sarah (disobedience, unwilling to wait)
David (his obedience or disobedience)(as for us ALL)

But I don’t want to get off track and go off on disobedience because I am just focused on obedience and what comes through that….

Obedience and discipline or self control tie in together. When we are led by our fleshly desires (our feelings) then it will be difficult to be obedient to the voice of God if we just do what we ‘feel like’ doing. Learning to be led by the Spirit of God and saying no (to us).

God uses the small things FIRST to lead us into obedience, thru his voice. If you can’t say no to the cookies sitting in front of you then what makes you think your gonna be ok with praying for someone when feeling fear.
When he tells you to be patient with someone but instead you focused on the hurry you are in.
When he tells you the person is hurting that yelled at you but you instead choose to get offended and yell back.
When everything inside of you is screaming yes but you hear, no…
Or when God tells you to walk back to aisle 1 because you don’t need what’s in your cart and you rationalize why it’s okay to just leave it on aisle 14 instead.
These are just a few examples of what it looks like to be led by the Spirit vs your flesh.

When God can begin to trust you in the little things then he will move you up to the big things.
I remember in The Book of Kathryn Kuhlman when someone had asked her what she has to do to prepared for her healing services and she replied, I STAY prepared (the price that most people don’t like to pay).

Submission! It is not an act that you put on. It is an ATTITUDE of the heart! I heard this from Joyce Meyer this morning and it is just what I needed to hear. Joyce says, the Bible says part of obedience is learning to be obedient to the authority God has placed in your life, it’s about order.

Joyce wanted a huge Ministry and power but God told her that first she had to work on her attitude and the secret things that she struggled with behind closed doors. She says that people want the PERKS without the WORKS! Wow.

God wants to teach you discipline, self control, obedience, good attitude through submission, and through the character He builds in us, the heart change, we can then be used in power to represent Him and his love in ways unimaginable!

But don’t get caught in the trap of making it a law… The law brings death! And the spirit brings life! Joyce gave the example that, if we began making rules for ourselves versus being led by the Spirit to do something then we start judging other people for not doing what we do. That’s good stuff! I have been hearing the Spirit tell me things about my eating habits and for my children but if I get religious about it than any time I see someone elses family eating junk food then I get judgemental. But if I’m listening to the Spirit tell me to do something and there is no law behind it then I will most likely not be judging someone else’s decisions.

So if you’re looking for a greater intimacy with God then allow him into every area of your life throughout the day. Stop listening to the circumstances, the people’s views, your feelings and anything else that tries to distract, choose God. Lol
